What cabinet options are a must have?

Taking a look at the must have accessories to
maximize your kitchens potential.

Your kitchen redesign should be just as much about updating the look and feel
of your kitchen as it is enhancing the functionality of it. Proper storage in a kitchen
goes far beyond just the number of cabinets. The key is to have cabinets that function
with strategic storage that maximizes the efficiency for your lifestyle. Bringing less
focus on where to find the herbs, spices and everyday necessities (where did I put
garlic powder?) And more on what matters; that soon to be delicious meal, the good
company you keep, (the garlic powder).

Here at G2 our goal is to not only help turn your house into the home of your
dreams but to also to inform and educate our clients on the design industry and all the
million little things that go into any remodel/renovation job.

So without further ado let’s break down some of the numerous options that can
go into your kitchen cabinets design.

1. Roll out pantry

A good pantry can be 2-3 cabinets worth of storage when utilized correctly.
Giving a homeowner floor to ceiling storage for all their cans, jars and any dry goods
pantries tend to be at the top of a clients wishlist. A good one is a highlight and a
staple of the kitchens design, a bad one is the frustration and shame of a homeowners
nightmares. In fact, pantry placement is often a primary consideration when designing
a kitchen cabinet layout.

Pantries come as small as 12″ wide. But if you are able to fit in a pantry that is
18″ or wider, a roll out pantry may be the way to go. A roll-out pantry conveniently
slides each shelf out for full view. This wide access can really simplify life in the kitchen,
especially when they are arranged by necessity or category. A roll out pantry
conveniently slides out each self for full view. No longer are the days of digging through
items to move the bread out of the way to reach the box of pasta, who’s got time for all
of that?

If you don’t have space or are unwilling to give some up, a pull out base cabinet
can have the same effect, just below counter top height.

2. Trash and Recycle Pull-Out

Roll-out, pull-out basically if it isn’t on wheels your kitchen is outdated.
Seriously, nothing screams out-dated kitchen design like a visible trash can. A pull out
waste cabinet is a particle way to free up floor space in a modern kitchen. All that is
needed is 18’’ of cabinet space for a double bin unit making it rather easy to fit into
most designs. Or for a single bin unit for more compact kitchens only 15’’ of space is
required. Keep the look clean and the smell down with a Pull-out waste unit.

3. Drawer storage

From keys to forks, batteries and those extra ketchup packets you keep “just in
case” drawers are accessible storage built to hold anything your kitchen needs. They
come in a variety of ergonomic and flexible configurations made to fit into the style of
your kitchen and lifestyle. If you are looking for the most accessible cabinet with
flexible storage, then look no further than a drawer base. Offered in a few different
styles, drawer cabinets come in 2, 3, & 4 stack options. Keep in mind the more stacks
the more pricey they become. Although they are more expensive, stacked drawer cabinets add enormous storage efficiency to your kitchen.

4. Corner storage

Whether it be a corner carousel (rotating
shelves), a blind corner, or corner turnout shelving,
the proper corner storage option creates not only
an attractive kitchen feature but an effective one
too. Corners are usually the forgotten tools in your
kitchen arsenal, difficult to incorporate in your day
to day because of their inaccessibility. The rotating
shelf revitalizes our use of the kitchen corners,
making them useful and simultaneously providing
some renewed confidence in the security of items
there. The Blind corner works as a pull out self
that is effective when space constraints don’t
allow for a rotating shelf. Finally onto Corner
turnout shelving, These can be easily shaped and
sized to fit within a corner base cabinet, they are
attached with glides allowing the shelf to be pulled
out for easy access.

5. Base Pull-out

How many things are supposed to be pulled or rolled out in a kitchen these
days? All the things… Base Pull-outs have come a long way as the years have gone
on. First introduced as the “mini pantry” option it was commonly used for spices but
nowadays homeowners will use it for utensils, knives, towels, dry goods and much
more. Only needing 15’’-18’’ of space the option for these below countertop cabinets
offer variety to any of your kitchen accessories.

6. Tilt out Tray

Felt pretty naive writing about a sink base cabinet because, well it’s literally
necessary for a sink to exist. So instead I want to highlight this sleek storage space
that make use of what is usually a false front drawer. A tilt-out tray keeps cleaning tools
at your finger tips. They are great for sponges or Brillo pads and even as a safe place
for rings while doing dishes. Although they are available in both plastic and stainless
steel, in my opinion plastic is the way to go. This is because it can be easily removed,
and washed on the top rack of the dishwasher.
