Temple Terrace Kitchen Remodel:
- Full Kitchen Remodel
From the surface of our pictures, this looks like a standard cut and dry remodel. Anyone in the industry knows there is no such thing as a “Standard” Remodel but work with me. This home however, was anything but. For this recent project, this Temple Terrace Couple contacted G2 looking to upgrade their kitchen which, is the original kitchen that was built with the home in the 1980’s! G2 knew it was time to bring this home Back To The Future. From removal and replacement of the old cabinetry, moving the Hvac vents from the walls to ceilings, and removal and support of the load bearing walls to open the space, This home needed a lot of love. So let’s get into it…

Our Favorite Things
On any job there are always going to be certain selections and design choices that just really stick out and take our breath away. That’s why for our favorite things, we want to highlight some of those in this section.
For this kitchen the first thing that strikes me is the green glass mosaic backsplash. With the under cabinet accent lights complimenting it, the reflection of the light (natural and artificial) increases the space to your eye and helps the kitchen feel more open. Next is the custom cabinetry the home owners had made. Having the floor to ceiling cabinets increases the space of storage with a sleek and modern look that will be timeless for years to come. Finally the last thing I want to point out (out of the many others i could) is the book shelves on the corner of the refrigerator wall. Pictured above, this was a design feature we felt would take what could’ve been an empty corner and turn it into a useful storage space for either decretive or practical use!
As Mentioned above this home had a lot going on under the surface. While the scope of work for this home was a lot, it was pretty straight forward for the G2 crew. If our trusted team members and sub-contractors had seen a job like this once, they’ve seen it 1,000 times. Let’s break it down below.
-
- It all starts with the demo of the existing, out dated, kitchen. First by supporting the load bearing walls. Then the removal of the old cabinetry & counter tops, the built in pantry, The AC chase from the family room, and scraping al the popcorn ceilings on the first floor.
-
- After the demo, the in house work can begin. Starting with installing new beams from the dining room to the living room and one at the kitchen opening, then wrapping those beams in drywall. Followed by framing new sofitt for behind the cabinetry. Replacing the drywall in kitchen on walls and ceiling where sofitt removed, and Replacing the drywall on walls behind cabinets in kitchen. Now for the ceiling, time to texture all downstairs ceilings with knockdown texture and then to Install the selected backsplash. Finish up in house work with Schluter edge profile in the kitchen.
But that was not all we did for this home…
-
- We opened the doorway from the kitchen to dining room from 8’’ to 11.4’’
-
- Added splash sill for the windows in the kitchen.
-
- Removed the fireplace and replaced it with an electrical fireplace.
-
- Added an accent brick wall around.
And We haven’t even talked about the electrical… Lets start in the kitchen.
-
- 6 recessed can lights throughout the kitchen
-
- Under cabinet lights
-
- Removing the outlets on the fridge wall where full height cabinets are installed
-
- Extending the wiring where soffit is added
-
- Adding a circuit for the microwave
-
- Moving the light switch from the dining room to the kitchen and adding a dinner switch
-
- Adding electric above the fireplace for a Tv
-
- Installing 4 can lights in the living room
And Finally Paint! The kitchen saw paint on all 4 walls and the ceiling. The living room, hallways and laundry room saw new paint over where the popcorn was removed.
