Full Remodel

Project Cost: $28,555

As residential contractors, every now and then a project will come along that will spark your every ability, creativity and patience. This year, that project for G2 was this home renovation in New Port Richey. The home was originally built all the way back in 1916 with some of it not having been updated in almost 50 years!

It’s not everyday you get to work on a century old home, so this kind of job excites people like us. As we raised our jaws off the floor and got to work on designing and drawing the plans, sparks flew off our pencils like a grind on steel. Contractors Christmas came early as we sunk our teeth into this construction time capsule and *carefully* tore it apart down to the WW1 studs.

Follow along below as we go in-depth into every stage of this renovation below. And the final phase of this home renovation, The Guest Bathroom.

Before

In ways of this projects renovations go, this bathroom was the most straight forward. However a 100 year old home is never straight forward.

During

The Trench you see running from the bathroom through the kitchen is actually brand new pvpc plumbing to replace the original cast iron pipes.

After

And the final result is a breath taking one. Filling in the window to move the shower to the back wall completely opens up the space.

Our Favorite Things

On every project there are a few design aspects that will always stick out to us as just perfect. We like to take this section to highlight a few of those.

First off let’s talk about the new open floor design. By moving the shower to the back wall we were able to eliminate the original wall that rested next to the toilet. Doing so made the entire bathroom open up and almost double in size of operating space.

Next, The theme. The entire projects theme was rustic farmhouse and once again, from the frameless shower glass, subway wall tile and brick tile floors, this bathroom encapsulates the theme to a tee.

Finally, The vanity. The floating birch plank with wash bucket sink is so unique I cannot help but make it one of my favorite things. A stylish modern take on the rustic theme, the orange of the wood contrasts the brick floor to perfection. Substituting storage for style, while not a usual choice, for a guest bathroom I think it works.
